Winter Workouts: Must-dos to protect your skin

Whether you're into skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, or running, it's important to remember that your skin needs extra care when you're outside in the cold. Here are a few tips to help you keep your skin happy and healthy:

  1. Slather on the sunscreen: Just because it's cold doesn't mean you're not at risk for sunburn. So, remember to apply sunscreen to your face, neck, and any exposed skin before hitting the mountain, trail, or roads.
  1. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize: The cold, dry air can do a number on your skin, causing it to become dry and flaky. Combat this with an ultra-hydrating moisturizer. We recommend Guy Lively’s Anti-Aging Face Cream and Revitalizing Body Lotion.
  1. Use lip balm: Your lips can get chapped and sore in the cold, so apply lip balm before going outside. Look for one with SPF to protect your lips from the sun, too.
  1. Take breaks: If you're out in the cold for a long time, warm up inside. This will help prevent your skin from becoming too dry and irritated.
  1. Wear a hat: Not only will a hat keep you warm, but it will also protect your face from the sun and wind. Make sure to choose one that covers your ears and neck, too.

With these tips in mind, you'll be ready to tackle the slopes, trails, or roads and protect your skin from the elements. Happy exercising!
